1. هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
88|1|Has there come to you the news of the overwhelming?
2. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
88|2|Faces on that Day will be shamed.
3. عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ
88|3|Laboring and exhausted.
4. تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88|4|Roasting in a scorching Fire.
5. تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
88|5|Given to drink from a flaming spring.
6. لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ
88|6|They will have no food except thorns.
7. لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ
88|7|That neither nourishes, nor satisfies hunger.
8. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ
88|8|Faces on that Day will be joyful.
9. لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88|9|Satisfied with their endeavor.
10. فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88|10|In a lofty Garden.
11. لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
88|11|In it you will hear no nonsense.
12. فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88|12|In it is a flowing spring.
13. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ
88|13|In it are raised beds.
14. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ
88|14|And cups set in place.
15. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88|15|And cushions set in rows.
16. وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88|16|And carpets spread around.
17. أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88|17|Do they not look at the camels—how they are created?
18. وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88|18|And at the sky—how it is raised?
19. وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88|19|And at the mountains—how they are installed?
20. وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88|20|And at the earth—how it is spread out?
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88|21|So remind. You are only a reminder.
22. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88|22|You have no control over them.
23. إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ
88|23|But whoever turns away and disbelieves.
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
88|24|God will punish him with the greatest punishment.
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
88|25|To Us is their return.
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
88|26|Then upon Us rests their reckoning.
