Surah An-Nazi’at (Those Who Pull Out) 79

1. وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا
79|1|By those who snatch violently.
2. وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا
79|2|And those who remove gently.
3. وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا
79|3|And those who glide smoothly.
4. فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا
79|4|And those who race swiftly.
5. فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا
79|5|And those who regulate events.
6. يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
79|6|On the Day when the Quake quakes.
7. تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ
79|7|And is followed by the Successor.
8. قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
79|8|Hearts on that Day will be pounding.
9. أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ
79|9|Their sights downcast.
10. يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ
79|10|They say, “Are we to be restored to the original condition?
11. أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَخِرَةً
79|11|When we have become hollow bones?”
12. قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
79|12|They say, “This is a losing proposition.”
13. فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ
79|13|But it will be only a single nudge.
14. فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ
79|14|And they will be awake.
15. هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَى
79|15|Has the story of Moses reached you?
16. إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
79|16|When His Lord called out to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa.
17. اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَى
79|17|“Go to Pharaoh—he has transgressed.”
18. فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ تَزَكَّى
79|18|And say, “Do you care to be cleansed?
19. وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى
79|19|And I will guide you to your Lord, and you will turn reverent.”
20. فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَى
79|20|He showed him the Greatest Miracle.
21. فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَى
79|21|But he denied and defied.
22. ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَى
79|22|Then turned his back, and tried.
23. فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى
79|23|And gathered and proclaimed.
24. فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَى
79|24|He said, “I am your Lord, the most high.”
25. فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَى
79|25|So God seized him with an exemplary punishment, in the last and in the first.
26. إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَى
79|26|In this is a lesson for whoever fears.
27. أَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ بَنَاهَا
79|27|Are you more difficult to create, or the heaven? He constructed it.
28. رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا
79|28|He raised its masses, and proportioned it.
29. وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا
79|29|And He dimmed its night, and brought out its daylight.
30. وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا
79|30|And the earth after that He spread.
31. أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا
79|31|And from it, He produced its water and its pasture.
32. وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا
79|32|And the mountains, He anchored.
33. مَتَاعًا لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ
79|33|A source of enjoyment for you and for your animals.
34. فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَى
79|34|But when the Great Cataclysm arrives.
35. يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا سَعَى
79|35|A Day when man will remember what he has endeavored.
36. وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَرَى
79|36|And Hell will be displayed to whoever sees.
37. فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَى
79|37|As for him who was defiant.
38. وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
79|38|And preferred the life of this world.
39. فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى
79|39|Then Hell is the shelter.
40. وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى
79|40|But as for him who feared the Standing of his Lord, and restrained the self from desires.
41. فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى
79|41|Then Paradise is the shelter.
42. يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا
79|42|They ask you about the Hour, “When will it take place?”
43. فِيمَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ذِكْرَاهَا
79|43|You have no knowledge of it.
44. إِلَى رَبِّكَ مُنْتَهَاهَا
79|44|To your Lord is its finality.
45. إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنْذِرُ مَنْ يَخْشَاهَا
79|45|You are just a warner for whoever dreads it.
46. كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا
79|46|On the Day when they witness it—as though they only stayed an evening, or its morning.
